Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

Amanda worked as an outpatient therapist for four years where her professional experience has focused on treating complex trauma, insecure attachment, relationship difficulties, and addictions, as well as anxiety, mood, and impulse-control disorders. She provided ongoing therapy for clients experiencing issues such as disability, intimate partner violence, homelessness, legal involvement, sexual assault, substance use, and suicidal ideation. Amanda also worked at a youth crisis shelter for 3 years and she has collaborated with court-ordered therapy programs at multiple agencies.

Amanda uses a client-centered approach, integrating practical approaches to reach small goals alongside evidenced-based therapies to progress towards the longer-term goal of healing trauma. Amanda learned about Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) in 2018 and fell in love with the model. She believes IFS is an amazing way to bring curiosity, clarity, and courage to even the most wounded parts of ourselves. Amanda has completed over 20 hours of continuing education courses in IFS, with specific training on the topics of trauma, addiction, and somatic healing. Amanda has also participated in over 300 hours of peer support, live practice sessions, trainings, interactive group activities, and community advocacy using the IFS model.

Personal statement:

“We share our stories with those who have earned the right to hear them.” -Brene Brown

I believe healing occurs when we are seen for who we are, when our stories are believed, and when our pain is heard by a compassionate witness in an environment where our mind and body are given safety to heal. I believe that we have each been created with the innate capacity to heal our own pain. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you bravely discover this capacity within yourself.
