Faith-based counselingOverview: Integrating Faith-Based Principles in Treatment, begins with our conviction that faith in the biblical scriptures has restorative power. However, we remain sensitive to the fact that not everyone believes the same. This sensitivity to the personal faith and faith tradition of others, as well as your faith community which you're associated with, be it liberal, conservative, orthodox, and all points in between, including those who do not practice a faith tradition at all, is rooted in our mission statement: “transforming lives through culturally competent, spiritually sensitive, and trauma informed counseling services.” As with any faith-based intervention, we practice the highest level of ethical standards when it comes those seeking faith-based therapy. We are always respectful of your self-determination and your current relationship to your expressed faith tradition. Faith-based interventions always yield to your consent and comfort level, and whether to incorporate and utilize the resources from your faith tradition and your faith community during the course of treatment. Therefore, when therapeutically indicated and always with sensitivity and respect to your cultural and spiritual beliefs, we have selected staff who are skilled in integrating faith-based principles, such as biblical based counseling, and prayer in conjunction with standard therapeutic processes. Let us know at Intake: If you are interested in faith-based therapy, please keep in mind that although all of our therapists operate from a spiritually sensitive ethical position, which we consider to be a cultural competency, not all of them incorporate faith-based principles in treatment. To ensure that you are assigned a therapist who is competent to integrate faith-based principles in treatment, be sure to let us know at the time of intake so we can be sure to match you with the therapist the best meets your needs. Online counselingOverview Also known as e-therapy and internet counseling, online counseling is similiar to individual counseling, but rather than meet with your therapist in person, you will meet online through a video conference. Who it can help Online counseling is a great option if things like transportation, weather conditions, distance, family care responsibilities, and other psycho-social barriers make it difficult for you to meet in a traditional counseling setting. What you'll experience Your therapist will provide you with a link to a secure video chat service. Here, you will engage in typical theraputic practices that can help you improve your overall quality of life, increase positive thinking, improve how you handle relationships, or learn to face difficult mental challenges Additional information Online counseling is available only with the consent of the therapist. Not all therapists offer online counseling. Online counseling may not be appropriate for those who have concerns over the risks of internet counseling, those with active suicidal/homicidal thoughts, and those who are experiencing active manic/psychotic symptoms. Our therapists will only offer online counseling if you are legally in a position to consent to receive mental health services. Online counseling will not be available if you are under 18 or have a legally appointed guardian. Your therapist will maintain records of online counseling services. These records can include reference notes, copies of transcripts of chat and internet communication and session summaries. These records are confidential and will be maintained for seven years as required by applicable legal and ethical standards according to the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. You will be asked in advance for permission before any audio or video recording will occur on the counselor’s end. You must have a permanent address in Ohio in order to be eligible for therapeutic services.
