Coping Wisely with Anger and Frustration | 6-week group

All of us have to live with frustration, and sometimes, anger, and we all find different ways of coping. But it’s never easy, and sometimes, frustrations can get the better of us and derail our thoughts or make us behave in ways we regret. It is possible, however, to get a better relationship to this emotion. We can listen to our frustration and anger, instead of acting impulsively. We can feel angry, but communicate assertively and clearly about why we are upset and what matters to us. Hope Behavioral Health will be running a small group on this topic. The group will be facilitated by our experienced group therapist Linda Hritz, working with our intern Jack Fuller. COVID-19 Loss Community Support Group

Facilitator Nancy Beckenhauer, MA Certified Chaplain My interest in COVID-19 losses: such as the closing of businesses, loss of income or home, the impact and losses related to lockdown experiences, health care workers and their stress and depression. The effect on parents’ role in their family, at their workplace or if working at home. The lack of control of adult children taking care of parents in an assisted living or long-term care facility. All of the heart wrenching stories tapped into my compassion for them and my sensitivity for their deep sense of abandonment, isolation, and lack of direction. This community pilot program held at Hope Behavioral Health will address the losses and provide diverse coping methods leading to healing. Join this support group if you are experiencing loss because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Background My background began with teaching in Secondary Education. I then transitioned into chaplain training at the Cleveland Clinic and eventually became a certified chaplain there. Experience My experience as a chaplain has also been at Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, and Hillcrest Hospital in Cleveland, OH, where I lead Grief Support Groups for people who had a loved one pass away during their stay in the hospital. Presently, I am a chaplain on the Spiritual Care team at Brookdale Hospice of Cleveland, OH. Once a month, I also lead a Grief Support Group through the Catholic Cemetery Association at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, OH. Each and all of these experiences and groups of people expanded my understanding of Spiritual Care and how blessings and losses affect life, wellness, and spiritual health. In Person: Hope Behavioral Health, Beachwood Ohio Six weekly meetings When: This 6-week group will begin Tuesday, October 25 from 6:30-8:00 pm Where: Hope Behavioral Health, 24100 Chagrin Blvd., Suite 420, Beachwood Group size: 6-8
